Chapter 13 Individual Debt Adjustment. The Individual Debt Adjustment option helps those who do not qualify for Chapter 7 Liquidation Under the Bankruptcy Code. It provides an opportunity for you to repay all or a portion of your debts in installments over a determined period of time. After a payment plan is submitted to the Bankruptcy Court, the Court will either approve or reject the payment plan. If the plan is approved, you will start to make the installments until the culmination of the payment period when debts are discharged. Chapter 13 is recommended for individuals who have many assets and would like to retain them.
